Now You See Me 14 May, 2026

3/7

The choreography and the spectacle and the score are phenomenal but I fear I just lost the plot

Slurs in the big 2013 is crazy and why does Alma like Dylan when he's actively a dick to her?

Mark Ruffalo and Isla Fisher are hot though

Wake Up Dead Man 25 Apr, 2026

5/7

What a film holy hell

I love the two very contrasting views on Christianity that it portrays here, with Jud being very much what Christians should be and Wicks being a warped perspective on that - almost mirroring what's happening in the West (mainly America) with the move towards Christian Nationalism and Evangelical Christianity.

I also quite like that Blanc felt like more of a side character in this film, because when he does appear it's always very impactful whilst he also acts like comedic relief in some parts (I love the organ bit he's so funny). Also him letting Martha confess shows that whilst he doesn't believe in religion at all he still respects it's ways and knew how much her confessing would mean to her.

Also harlot whore is such a phrase and they say it so often but with such malice it's really impressive

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days 25 Apr, 2026

6/7

So horribly uncomfortable that at points I'd have rather ripped my own toenails out but SUCH A GOOD WATCH

The poor taxi driver though, he should've been paid more

The Devil Wears Prada 21 Apr, 2026

6/7

Opening with K.T Tunstall is amazing like what a song and what a way to open the film, really characterises Andrea from the get go!

This was basically Work Experience: The Movie, in that I now know what job I never want to have, I near had a panic attack just watching the first 30 minutes!

Also what a cast, I love Stanley Tucci and Anne Hathaway (poor Nigel though)

Crazy, Stupid Love 03 Apr, 2026

Fuck La La Land

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone had more chemistry in their first interaction in this film than the whole of La La Land and it is glorious

Steve Carrell is cute too I guess

La La Land 02 Apr, 2026

2/7

It's such a shame that such gorgeous cinematography was accompanied by such a lack of anything else. There were some gorgeous shots of characters that I did just not care for and I do think that this wasn't helped by time skips and implied developments in their relationship.

I do also think that if the movie continued as it started it would have been better as well; something flamboyant and more committed to being a musical rather than reprising City of Stars 50 TIMES.

This film could've been just the last 20 minutes and I'd've got the whole gist and felt the same about it

  • Time is Running Out
  • Butterflies & Hurricanes
  • Favourite song 3

The lead-in from Intro to Apolcalypse Please is so satisfying, strong vocals in AP, the harmonies in stockholm syndome are so tasty and the guitar solo!?!?, the whiplash between ss and falling away with you is also so satisfying, the guitar arps are so pretty, it's such a pretty song but still feels very muse
